AN ARTIST OF DIGITAL+
PERFORMING INTEREST THROUGH FLUXUS.

RESEARCHING  THE TECHNOLOGICAL, DIGITAL, META-DIGITAL,

INTERNET AND THE WORLD WIDEWEB THROUGH OUR PHONES AS OUR MOST INTIMATE PARTNER.

IRMA BEŠIREVIĆ explores humanity's evolving relationship with technology and the ongoing technological revolution through new-media art and performance. Her work spans a wide range of materials and media, focusing on the raw, non-directed technological (readymade digital), the human body (and its digital twin), and transparent plastic, with themes of the meta-digital influenced by Fluxus though artistic research. Born in Gothenburg, Sweden, Beširević moved to Stockholm to study modern dance at the Royal Swedish Ballet School, where she connected with the contemporary art scene and completed an apprenticeship at the Royal Opera. After graduating in 2016, she moved to Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina, earning a bachelor's degree in intermedia art in 2021 under Mladen Miljanovic and Veso Sovilj. She is currently pursuing her master's at HDK-Valand, back in Gothenburg. Beširević’s practice is rooted in exploring the intersection of technology, human behavior, and societal dynamics. Her research examines how individuals interact with personal devices, particularly smartphones, and how these interactions shape perceptions, behaviors, and relationships. Working across multiple media—choreography, video, sound, projection, and installation—she investigates themes such as privacy, consent, agency, and the impact of a digitalized world. Her transmedial approach blends physical movement with digital technologies, creating immersive experiences that play the boundaries between the virtual and real worlds. Beširević has worked on commissions for the city of Banja Luka, contributed to several publications, and had solo exhibitions. Since 2021, she has been represented by Vagon Gallery, and her work and perfomance has been showcased at venues such as the Royal Opera House in Stockholm, the Gothenburg Opera, and the Muzej Savremene Umjetnosti Republike Srpske.
